Problem with partitioning HD on second IDE controller

Hello,

I've installed my second IDE controller on my motherboard (Promise Ultra133 TX2 ATA), I've added an extra HD on the controller, and my kernel detects the hardisk on bootup

Quote:
server:/proc# cat /var/log/kern.log | grep hdi
May 16 15:03:05 server kernel: ide4: BM-DMA at 0xb400-0xb407, BIOS settings: hdiio, hdjio
May 16 15:03:05 server kernel: hdi: WDC WD400BB-00DEA0, ATA DISK drive
May 16 15:03:05 server kernel: hdi: max request size: 128KiB
May 16 15:03:05 server kernel: hdi: 78165360 sectors (40020 MB) w/2048KiB Cache, CHS=65535/16/63, UDMA(100)
May 16 15:03:05 server kernel: hdi: cache flushes not supported
May 16 15:03:05 server kernel: hdi: hdi1 hdi2 < hdi5 >
When i'm trying to cfdisk my new disk it does not appear to be shown in /dev (/dev/hdi)

Quote:
server:/proc# cfdisk /dev/hdi

FATAL ERROR: Cannot open disk drive
Please help me out.

Greetings,
Tom.

it's there, just in a different place, have a look in

/dev/ide/host0/bus8/target0/lun0 (or something similar) you may need to create a symlink to this, have a look to see how /dev/hda is done

if your running udev, should should be able to ammend the cfg to do this on boot

Hmm i've tried to search in /dev/ide but that folder doesn't exist on my system. My other harddisks are detected correctly (till hdh)
