My guess is because Lenny has been released today as the new stable. I would suggest you upgrade to lenny.

Quote:
See http://www.debian.org/ for information about Debian GNU/Linux.
Four Debian releases are available on the main site:

Debian 4.0r7, or etch. Access this release through dists/oldstable.
Debian 4.0r7 was released Monday, 09 February 2009.

Debian 5.0, or lenny. Access this release through dists/stable
Debian 5.0 was released Saturday, 14 February 2009.

Testing, or squeeze. Access this release through dists/testing. The
current tested development snapshot is named squeeze. Packages which
have been tested in unstable and passed automated tests propogate to
this release.

Unstable, or sid. Access this release through dists/unstable. The
current development snapshot is named sid. Untested candidate
packages for future releases.

Older releases of Debian are at http://archive.debian.org/debian-archive

I solved this problem !
this happens, because from today Lenny is stable and not Etch.
Code:
# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
# sources.list generated by apt-spy v3.1
deb http://ftp.ch.debian.org/debian/ etch main
deb-src http://ftp.ch.debian.org/debian/ etch main

#stable main non-free
deb ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free

#security & none-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib non-free

#deb http://volatile.debian.org/debian-volatile etch/volatile main contrib non-free

Edit (or create) file /etc/apt/apt.conf

Add a line that looks like this:

APT::Cache-Limit "3000000" or some other very large integer. If it still doesn't work, try a bigger number. Not sure what causes this, but this should fix it.

thx, I didn't know that today Lenny is stable and not Etch.

I changed in /etc/apt/sources.list from stable to etch and now works well again.

I'll think about the Update to Lenny, but I'm a little bit scared, because there is a very important server.
