Problem Installing Etch on Cubix Density 1210

At work we have a Cubix Density 1210, it has Pentium 3 generation blades, mostly with Intel 440BX chipsets, they share access to a single CD drive and floppy.

When I attempt to install any linux with defaults the installers will halt at differing stages depending on distribution. After a lot of fiddling I discovered Redhat derived distros can be installed if the installer is started with "nousb noapic ide=nodma" (tested to work with ClarkConnect, CentOS 3.8, cAos)

I then edit the grub config to remove the ide=nodma part after installation and the system will work fine after that.

Debian Etch on the other hand is being stubborn, when started with the same parameters it still gets stuck just after the stage where IDE devices are detected - just goes blue with grey bar at bottom and sits there indefinitly.

Does anyone have any other parameters that might work, or any info on installing Debian on similar configurations?

Thanks for any suggestions.
