I hit the same exact problem when upgrading from 'testing' to 'unstable' a couple days ago. It must be a problem with the package. Anyone have any ideas on how to purge the foomatic package?

Others have had the same problem with this package. Hulkprotector posted a fix:
echo foomatic purge | dpkg --set-selections Link to knoppix forum discussing other apt-get options and tricks: http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2638 |

Hi folks,
Thanks for your advice. To my surprize the Debian box (testing/unstable) is now working normal again after leaving it untouched for one day. On Konsole # dpkg --configure -a it went through without problem # apt-get update also without porblem Now Kmail can send and receive mails again (after that incident, it can't send mail, alwasy indicating without "sender". I re-checked "Settings -> Configure Kmail" several times without discovering any problem there) Maybe this is the problem of "Testing/Unstable version" On Konsole # dselect update # apt-get dist-updat Invalid Operation dist-update Kindly advise what does it mean TIA Happpy New Year and B.R. satimis |

No it is not I run a similar setup and have no problems with Kmail you should check to see what you have installed for KDE there has to be a problem in there somewhere to check: Code:
>$ COLUMNS=125 dpkg -l | grep 3.1.[34] Quote:
