Problem connecting with pppoe on every Debian distro
Hy, I have tried Debian and Debian base distros and i like them, but they have for me only one problem (webcam and microphone solved ), i have two network interface eth0 and ppp0 (actualy three with lo0), to eth0 connects with no problem, but to ppp0 from GUI or command line i have to disconnect "dsl-provider or modem" and to connect it once, and then it works, how can i make it work if i make only one connect with no disconnect. On redhat based distros it works with one connect (without disconnecting first).
If you need some logs i will gladly provide.
What are you trying to achieve? It's pretty normal that you use ethX if you have a (wired) network access available and pppX when you only have a phone-line at your disposal. You don't connect them both at the same time.
Btw, there is only one loopback device, so plain lo will do

I am tring to say that in order to connect to ppp0 (the pppoe connection) i have to disconnect two times the ppp0 and then connect it again, and it works, why can't i connect with only one connect and no disconnect first?
Hi!
I have the same problem. In Debian itself and in some other Debian-based distributions (tried Ubuntu, Knoppix) it is very difficult to connect to Internet through pppoe. I can establish connection, I can ping any website, I can even open some sites on Internet like google.com or debian.org. But nothing more in general. Sometimes connection works fine, but very rarely. I don't know on what it depends.
