Is there a way I can install the canon i320 on sarge...i installed it in knoppix with turboprint drivers but they print a logo in the middle of the page. can anyone please tell me how to configure this printer on debian sarge
then in a browser type "http://localhost:631/". Click on printers, type root as username and root password as root password and follow the wizard to getting your printer set up. Good luck.

I am pretty sure that you will need to purchase turboprint if you want that printer to work. http://www.turboprint.de/english.html I have a Canon i350, and it is the only way it will print. Unfortunately, the linux driver costs about as much as the printer.

This is very sad to know. Canon better start giving free driver support for linux for their printers.
Otherwise customers will start moving to other printers that
offer Free Linux Support/Drivers.
My hp deskjet 970cxi is great, considering i picked it up for free- and windows is fine with it. Linux on the other hand behaves like it's some sort of cancer. The only time I got the damn thing working was using a completely different driver, and even then (as expected) the printing quality wasn't worth the hassle. Since then i've tried all sorts of CUPS stuff, lpds, even samba to a windows computer- but to no avail.
Next time i'm in the market for a printer I'll do what I do when looking at video cards- put linux compatibility high on the list. (Yay nVidia, boo Ati)
