Prelink to get Firefox to start faster?

Is prelinking possible in Debian?

The one site I found was oriented towards Gentoo.

Trying to get Firefox to load a little faster. It would be great if it would start in the background like Konqueror does.

I am running Debian Sid, kernel 2.6.10, and the Debian Package of Firefox 1.0.3-2. KDE 3.3, Athlon 1.8 and 1Gig of ram.

Just point me in the right direction.

Here try this little bit of info courtesy of forevergeek.com

1.type about:config into the address bar and hit return. scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. when you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. alter the entries as follows:

set network.http.pipelining to true

set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true

set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some number like 30. this means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. lastly right-click anywhere and select new-> integer. name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to. this value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

if youre using a broadband connection youll load pages much faster now!

now i aint sure if this works under linux tho?

Not quite what I was going at. Going after faster loading time of the program.
Prelink speeds up the amount of time it takes for programs to load.
By using it, Firefox now starts as fast if not faster than Konqueror.

"prelink is a program which modifies ELF shared libraries and ELF dynamically linked binaries, so that the time which dynamic linker needs for their relocation at startup significantly decreases and also due to fewer relocations the run-time memory consumption decreases too (especially number of unshareable pages)."
http://www.maconlinux.net/linux-man-...prelink.8.html

For more info to Tweak the Speed firefox browse's see:

Use along with the "Tweak Network Settings extension"
