prelink

I did apt-get upgrade, then apt-get install prelink then prelink -afmR and got these errors on the programs I need loaded faster the most:

One mention of it on the internet but unanswered. Not sure what it means, Any ideas? Thanks.

Prelink is still a work in progress and under Debian it seems to have issues prelinking Mozilla programs. Id love to hear if you find a solution.

However, for OOo you can run dpkg-reconfigure openoffice.org-bin and it will prompt you for prelinking it if already installed. The option is always given when installing OOo via apt.

Mozilla/Firefox and Prelink

Strange when I ran prelink -afmR the only Mozilla related errors I received was
/usr/lib/mozilla/TestGtkEmbed: Could not find one of the dependencies
/usr/lib/nvu-0.80/TestGtkEmbed: Could not find one of the dependencies

Opera gave me errors also.
/usr/lib/opera/plugins/operamotifwrapper-1: Could not find one of the dependencies
/usr/lib/opera/plugins/operamotifwrapper-3: Could not find one of the dependencies

The two errors and I am wondering about are
Could not set /lib/ld-2.3.2.so owner or mode: Operation not permitted
Could not write prelink cache: Permission denied

Maybe because I didn't run as root?

Actually the Openoffice and Firefox prelinking problem can be solved easily under Debian by adding /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox, /usr/lib/openoffice and /usr/lib/openoffice/program to ld.so.conf and running ldconfig before doing another prelink -a

ldd shows that for some reason firefox and Openoffice aren't linked quite properly against some of the .so files unless this is done, and prelink complains about that.
