Postfix + mysql + courier-imap + virual domains problem.

Hi all,

I have a problem for wich I seek a resolution.

I host my own server at home. It's an all in one server wich meens it hosts apache2, php, mysql, postfix, courier-imap and so on. all that on an up to date stable/sarge machine.
This machine is behind a NAT/firewall box and ports are forwarded properly on it.

I'm having problems with postfix not playing nice with mysql. I read the tutorial on http://workaround.org/articles/ispmail-sarge/ and it did help a bit but, it's probably because I messed up some where, it's not working for me.

In my main.cf file for postfix config I added all of the needed lines like shown in the tutorial and in the mysql_virtual... files I used like told the 127.0.0.1 address for the mysql server to work around postfix's chroot jail. but it siply won't work. All i get in the /var/log/mail.log is that postfix is unable to connect to the mysql server. But if I switch to the hash tables system, postfix runs just fine.

It's the first time I work with postfix and I really need some good advises from a postfix pro.

Please help because I really want to get this going soon.

If you feel that you need more infos I'll post the details you need.

Thanx!

Ai'm not a postfix pro, whoever I do own a server running postfox+courier-imap+courier-pop+virtual-domains.

As you said yourself, the ash tables work fine. So why not use them to do create/use virtual domains instead of mysql?

Yes I know it might be what I'll do.

But the thing that I like about using mysql is that for smtp auth, imap auth and other lookups, I have only to maintain one place. If I use the hash tables, i have to maintain both users in mysql and hash tables and that increase the work and the chances of make a silly mistake...

Thanx for the reply.
