Pidgin convo box all messed up

Is there a way to configure the conversation window on pidgin? Every time they release a new version it seems like I am able to do less and less in the way of customization. First they made it so I could barely customize my font (I might just be retarded) and now the input box is like two lines tall.

Is there any way to get a bigger space to type into? I have a big screen and I like to make use of it, but its kind of hard when the most you can see of what you are typing is a line and a half. That and it does some goofy resize thing if the message gets longer than that.

Any ideas?

The Wikipedia page on Pidgin has this to say:

Quote:
Recent controversy has centered on the fact that version 2.4 lacks the ability to manually resize the text input box of conversations. It automatically resizes to either 2, 3, or 4 lines depending on how much is typed. Developers are working on a better solution but are reluctant to bring back manual resizing at this time.
I think you'll just have to wait until they figure out that "better solution".

Sadly I can do little, but to let you know that you are not alone

Exact same problem since 2.4.0!
Exact same opinion that with each release pidgin is getting more simple-shitty-mindedly-non-customizable!

I guess I just don't understand why being able to resize your convo box was a bad idea...
