php, mysql, apache not working together like expected

I've downloaded and installed apache, php and mysql via apt.

apache works with php and mysql works.

mysql, however, does not work with php.

Whenever I try and use one of the mysql functions I get something like this:

Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in...

Do I need to tweak something? I thought it would simply work since no configuration was required for php to work...

Fixed, after reviewing for the third time or so which packages I had installed I tried installing... uhh, I can't remember it's name, and it worked.

Yeah, you need php module for myslq!
When you compile php from source it is with ./configure --with-mysql ...
But that's debian and you need only from php4-myslq deb packet (if you use php4!)
so just type:
apt-get install php4-mysql
...
