PDF "Couldn't get a file descriptor referring to the console" on Debian Stable.

Dear Linux Questions,

I encounter the error when I click on the link url of the files under Debian Stable each time I click onto the links.
"Couldn't get a file descriptor referring to the console"

The video and the twitter page are not started.

Code:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{hyperref}
\begin{document}

Here's a link to \href{http://twitter.com/home}{Twitter}.

Here's a link to \href{file.avi}{video avi}.

Here's another link with run to \href{run:file.avi}{video avi}.

\end{document}}
I have tried with epdfview and evince.

Furthermore, xdg-open is already installed on the machine and present.
Code:
$ whereis  xdg-open
xdg-open: /usr/bin/xdg-open /usr/bin/X11/xdg-open /usr/share/man/man1/xdg-open.1.gz

However it works great onto MS Windows XP but not under Debian Linux.

Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

X.

Hello, Anyone with any ideas?

It would be greatly helpful since I have to give a talk next week, and I would need to show AVI videos while presenting.

Best regards
X.
