patch output. What the ...?
Hello,
Trying my hand at patching my kernel. Here is the kernel Makefile header info:
iceland:/usr/src/linux-2.6.22.1# head -n 5 Makefile
VERSION = 2
PATCHLEVEL = 6
SUBLEVEL = 22
EXTRAVERSION =
NAME = Holy Dancing Manatees, Batman!
iceland:/usr/src/linux-2.6.22.1# head -n 5 Makefile
VERSION = 2
PATCHLEVEL = 6
SUBLEVEL = 22
EXTRAVERSION = .1
NAME = Holy Dancing Manatees, Batman!
I try to apply patch-2.6.22.2 and get the following:
iceland:/usr/src/linux-2.6.22.1# patch -p1 < patch-2.6.22.2
patching file Makefile
Hunk #1 FAILED at 1.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file Makefile.rej
patching file arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.c
Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Assume -R? [n]
Not sure:
1) What "Hunk #1 FAILED at 1" is saying and
2) What "Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Assume -R?
[n]" means.
I see that it has detected the previous patch, but what is Assume -R?
Thanks,
lowbrow
