I've realized that those are the unstable packages. You need to look under /debian/dists/ and pick your dist (etch, lenny, sid) then look at the contents-amd64.gz. You'll find that it only exists under sid.

Alternatively, you can use the Debian website package search utility. http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages#search_packages

As root goto /etc/apt and add the repositories manually in the doc titled sources.list . You may have to run from the command line #chmod 777 sources.list
