NVIDIA driver uninstall?

Is it possible to uninstall the NVIDIA driver, I got an precompile kernel not found error message, but I went and installed anyway(not good idea)and now I get crashes pretty frequently, or can I reinstall over the old driver with the right compiled kernel?

that message during driver install is benign. it just meant that the nvidia installer had to compile the video driver kernel for your particular (GNU/Linux) kernel during the install process.

to go back to the free (as in speech and beer) nv driver, edit "/etc/X11/XF86Config" and change "Driver nvidia" to "Driver nv". you may need to re-add "Load GLCore" and "Load DRI" to the modules section.
