NVIDIA driver from debian causes tty1-6 to display wrong

Just went from the nouveau driver to the debian nvidia driver (built through module-assistant) and found that while F7 displays right, tty1 (F1) is missing the first two columns of letters on the left side of the screen. IOW, where it should say 'debian' or 'desktop' it says 'bian' and 'sktop'. Has anyone ever seen this, and how does one fix it? I'm up to date.(wheezy/gnome)

This may sound like a silly question, but are you using a LCD screen? If so, have you pressed the "Auto" button (or equivalent) to fix/center the screen after installing the NVIDIA driver? (I've had this issue after changing from the nouveau driver to the Nvidia one or viceversa).

You're right. Thanks. I thought I was so thorough, but I missed that entirely. Thanks again.
