noobe needs help


guys I have been using suse for past year and linspire recently ,So the instinct to try debian hit me so i downloaded debian network installer everything went good until I try to start x and then I get blank black screen, I am using a nvidea 5200 fx 128mb video card with asus board and 1 gig og ram suse and other debian knockoffs have no problem i can reboot and get to the logon prompt without problem is there anyway I could reconfigiure my xserver , help I really want this to work!!!

there's not much info to go on from your post, but you can try to make sure everything is up to date by doing

Code:
su -c "apt-get update ; apt-get dist-upgrade"
try using debian's xfree86 configuration tool.

Code:
su -c "dpkg-reconfigure -Plow xfree86"
take a look at your "/etc/X11/XF86Config-4" file and make sure that your monitor can handle the resolutions listed near the end.

if none of that works, post your XF86Config-4 file here to examine.

What version of Debian? (woody, sarge, sid)
What kernel?
What errors were you given?
Did you configure X?
