None of the authentication protocols.....

Hello,i am having some problems changing the sources.list...or am i? i not sure what's going on, maybe someone care to help me? Could be a permissions issue?

Details:
deb ftp://mirror.eftel.com/debian/ lenny main
deb ftp://mirror.eftel.com/debian/ lenny-proposed-updates main
#deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates maindeb
deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main

privatix:/home/privatix# gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

(gedit:3163): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
privatix:/home/privatix#

1.Note i have stopped #repository here to try another, the last one.
2.When i issue command from root terminal, this is result, though it does let me pull up the sources.list and edit.

3.I also have a sources.list.save /etc/apt/sources.list.save
Should that be there? It does not change along with sources.list changes made.

Thanks, steve.

Please use a text editor other than gedit. For example, nano, vi, jed, zile, joe, mg, etc

The .save is not a problem.
