No Sound flash Emergency!

Dramatic yes.. but it is.. I've a presentation of this new software tomorrow and for what ever reason i can get my linux machine to play sound with flash files.

I have a debain (Sarge) distro installed with kde

Kernel is
#uname -r
2.4.25-1-386

I've tried a few things like

#chmod 666 /dev/audio*
#chmod 666 /dev/dsp*

even included my user in the audio group in the /etc/groups file

I can play sound from anything else cd, mp3 etc.. but not int he browser

tried mozilla and konqueror.. the flash plays fine but no sound ... I think you might be getting it.

anyhow, i really don't care how this can be fixed.. i'll take any hacked /quick fix i can get... ideadlly i like to keep my configuration which i've taken a while to setup... so completely reinstalling the machine is something i'd like to leave to an absolute last resort.. anyhow.. along night ahead.. unless one of you wonderfully talented peole can bale me out...

Have you tried to re-install the flash player? Also make sure that no other programs that use audio are open while you are trying to get the flash animation to work.

as for other programs.. nothing else is open.. only purpose of the machine is to display flash of a certain page in a browser.

cheers that's how installed it first time.. thought there might have been a easy apt-get install method

doubt this will work though.. seems to be a common problem that people aren't getting sound form there browesers even thought sound works on everything else.

Wouldn't happen to have two sound cards would you?
I remember I had the same prob until I disabled the onboard chip and just used my SB Live.

In the end i installed a new kernel.. i know a bit drastic but had to be done.

Also i do have 2 sound cards now.. can you disable the onboard in the bios.. i might try that because althouht it is working i have to run aslaconf everytime the machine is rebooted...
