I have an LCD monitor : LG Flatron L1720B, Dell Dimension 2400.
The screen blinks three times and I am back in console mode. As the box can't be opened, there are rivets all around it, I have to get X working or I am stuck.
I tried dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 several times, changed to vga, but got nothing so far.
Could you think of something more ? I also tried sarge and testing (reinstalled twice with the Ethernet interface now working, but to no avail)
This means you're video card driver is wrong probably. You can run xf86config to change the driver and it automatically writes a new /etc/X11/XF86Config file or you can edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 yourself. You have to change the driver but using the config utility is probably easier since it lists all the drivers you can choose from. Don't know which you need though.
Im having this same problem ive selected the i810 already and tried manually writing to the config file ... tried reinstalling too is there a way to install Xorg?? Im really new to Deb but i know Ubuntu used Xorg and i have a xorg.conf that i know works.. help Please!!
Xorg was recently added to the Debian Sid repositories, and is currently getting adjusted there.
There are several guides to installing Xorg on testing and stable (such as this, but it isn't very good). The bets thing to do is wait a few weeks for Xorg to move into Testing. If you are really impatient, you can use apt-pinning to install xorg from unstable, but I warn you, it has broken a few things on my machine and others.
