No network when booting installation from CD

I'm a newbie at Debian and want to install 3.1 but when booting no network is found so I wonder how I should manage to find the network card?
I get a message that the network is slow and are not able to get a address trough DHCP.
The card is a Internet Pro 100 and it works alright with Slackware.
