No internet on very basic Debian

I am making an experiment with Debian, very basic Debian. I got the netinstall ISO and installed it in VirtualBox without any connection to the Internet, to see how basic it is and if I can dig myself out from it.

Well, I am stuck. I enabled Bridged connection in VirtualBox but super basic Debian can't see it. I also tried NAT. There is no ifconfig command, ifup is not working and nothing happens with 'service networking restart.'

How do I get networking running on super basic Debian?

TIA

IIRC, you don't get a choice with debian - the dvd gets installed.

NAT (Network Address Translation) should do it, provided you're online in your host system. If the guest system owns the network card, you'll need to bring that up with drivers, firmware, config files, etc.

Better explain your network (host & guest), and show the basic files, /etc/hosts & the 'route' command particularly.

OK, I solved the problem myself after reading this page:

Sorry about any inconvenience.
