NO DHCPOFFERS received
 

Hi

I am getting NO DHCPOFFERS received as below and not knowing how to
fix it.
using debian testing 2.6.15 kernel, I disconnect the adsl modem/router
for 10 seconds but that does not work, I eventually have to reboot.

Did it work before, what did you change then?

Try to do /etc/init.d/networking restart

always been like this, posted when I got fedup with it. if I #ifup -a not too long after #ifdown -a then all works fine but too ofter if I leave #ifdown -a for a long time then the error as in my op happens.

What computer, NIC and which driver do you use?

Hmm that is about the most widely used NIC, si it is unlikely that it is a driver error.

Have you tried to swap the nic for another one?

I have 2 NICs one for WAN and the other for LAN, I will switch their functionality and report.

I switched the 2 NICs, connecting the netgear "eth0 to the adsl, it
still gives the same problem, which is, if I #ifdown -a for some long
time and then #ifup -a, and ping www.google.com, I get, unable to find
host.
