Question Newbie who might be in the wrong place - KNOPPIX question

Hey everyone

i got a hassle with my knoppix HDD, it doesnt go into gui no more . it only leaves me at the CLI login , i change init level to 5 - same deal, i press "alt+f7" and i get a cursor flashing in the corner. I relise this is a super vague question but does anyone have any ideas how i can fix this?

i fixed a similar problem in Red hat 8 by 'touch'ing a file that Xserver needed.

Thanks everyone
