I'm using Debian (Sarge) and have installed and configured my printer using the foomatic-gui. My printer is an Epson Stylus CX5200.

Issue 1: When I print the cups test page, the border of the page extends past the bottom of the paper. The printer is set for letter size paper, which is what I am using. This also leads to...

Issue 2: When a print job is finished, the printer indicates that it is still printing, i.e. the printer light which flashes during a print job continues to flash and the printer display continues to display "Printing...". It does not seem to prevent other print jobs, but it appears that somehow the printer is not receiving an indication that the print job has finished.

Please help, I'm not sure where to look for answers.

Try installing it as a similar printer. I have a HP940c and find that switching to a recent model close to my printer improved things a bit as far as alignment and such.
