Need solution to install it...
 

Hi there;
I downloaded 3.0-r4 iso images (7 cd). When I boot my laptop from 1' st CD it was ok; I got the linux command prompt; and then I just hit the "Enter" but only I got is black screen. I think something is wrong with my hardware (probably Graphical card.). Here is my Hardware (For MSI-M510C Laptop):

CPU: 1.5 GHz Centrino
Memory : 512 MB
Graphical Card : ATI RADEON 9700 (I think the core is 9600)
Hard Drive: 60 GB Toshiba
Screen: 15" LCD
Media: DVD/CDRW COMBO

What do you think the main reason for such fault? What can be the solution? Maybe I can try to download the minimal CD and then try to set it up. I know it doesn't help but just want to try. I need real solution suggestions. Thanks for your help... :Pengy:

I would suggest using the new installer which you can get at http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimag...86-netinst.iso and enter linux26 ( check with F3) at the boot prompt to install with the 2.6 kernel which should support most of your hardware. This will install your base system and the rest can be downloaded off the net. Read the sticky about what to do post install.

Thanks for your interest. But it didn' t work. I got the solution in setp CD with special parameters:
If anyone suffers with the same problem yhe solution is : linux vga=771 on the command prompt for laptops.
I just found it. Now I will be able to install it...

the vga 771 option tells me you're most likely using a vesa driver for your graphics card
You are probably not using the extent of your hardware by choosing that driver.
It will slow your system. But it's a good temporary workaround.

How can I tune My graphic options in Debian
 

After installation how can I tune my graphic options in Debian. I dont know about ATI drivers, I used to install NVdia's :) . What about "ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility" driver for debian.? Thanks for help...

This is a link to the rpm package
You can use Alien, Alien is a program that converts between standard package management formats. So you would convert the RPM to a deb and install it as normal with dpkg. I suggest you check out the Alien Web site for more info.

Oe i'm sorry
Just found out there is a faq from wich states there's no open source driver for your graphics card probably that rpm package is not going to work either.
J may want to look in to this link
