Nautilus does not show network shares

On a fresh Debian install, Nautilus fails to show other local systems & servers under Network.

These local systems are displayed correctly if I access them directly as smb://ip. I can also list them successfully using avahi-discover.

I have not had this problem using Linux Mint.

Any solutions or good guesses?

have you installed samba-common? as root, at a terminal:
Code:
apt-get install samba-common
that should sort you out, though you may need to reboot.
