Where on the debian server is the mysql databases placed? teh databases itself that is. they aint in /etc/mysql/

I'm not sure on a debian install, however on centos 5.5 it would be:

/var/lib/mysql

In /var/lib/mysql only,mysql.conf file is located in /etc/mysql/mysql.conf
