Mozilla insists on Postscript

When I try to print from Mozilla Firefox it seems to identify all printers as Postscript. I have no problem printing from Open Office etc printing to my HP 4050tn with the standard driver.

Thanks in advance for your help.

from mozilla (firefox in my case) I have two way to print:
1/ using the postcript/Deskjet### <--- The name of my printer
2/ (valid only if you use kde), once you select postcript/#### goes into properties and change the command to 'kprinter'. In that case when you type print it will open the kprinter menu :-)
Good luck!
A.

Thanks A. Your reply gave me the clues I needed to request support from my solution provider who pointed me to the following. I appreciate you response.

Fortunately, you can have the best of both worlds. You can configure Mozilla to pass along its print jobs to Kprinter, which gives you a lot more options when printing. Here's what you do:

1. Open Mozilla & go to a page you'd like to print. Go to File > Print.

2. In the Print dialog box, click on the Properties... button.

3. In the Printer Properties dialog box, change the Print Command from "lpr ${MOZ_PRINTER_NAME:+'-P'}${MOZ_PRINTER_NAME}" to "kprinter --stdin" (without quotation marks).

4. Click OK to close Printer Properties dialog box, & then click Print to close the Print dialog box.

5. You'll see Mozilla 'printing', & then Kprinter should open up. Make the appropriate choices, & then click Print. Your page should print.

Now you've got a fantastic Web browser and a great printing system. Enjoy!

how to set up print to pdf in Firefox 3

In Firefox 3, the modification to "about config" no longer works.

However, a single modification to "about config" in Firefox 3 will default the file type to pdf (from ps) and allow you to set a default directory.

For further information, go to http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewto...?f=8&t=1010695 and scroll down to the last post in that thread.
