My Mozilla (from Debian/sarge, i.e version 1.7.8-1sarge3) crashes when trying to retrieve PDF files.

The problem happens sporadically and only happens with PDF files. I have no clue on where to start searching for a solution.

If mozilla is open from the console, I don't get any special messages upon closing (crashing) of mozilla. Is there any way to be more verbose on this?

I have tried purging my install and reinstalling the mozilla packages (using aptitude) but with no improvement.

If mozilla crashes it is always BEFORE opening the window asking what action should be taken with the PDF file. It is therefore independant of the PDF viewer application and this is why I am guessing on a problem with mozilla, or certainly more precisely with my profile in mozilla.

Any help on how to solve this except by erasing my home directory profile? There is may be a single file I could try editing/erasing?

You can just create a new profile leaving the original intact. If the problem disapears with the new profile, you have just found the problem.
