Well the deed is done. I copied the files I wanted to keep off of both partitions, removed the old hdd and installed windows. Made room for /boot at the front of the primary hdd and installed the secondary one. Installed Debian on it, and have just about finished copying my files off of the backup media.
Thus far the only problem is that I've got no sound support, but I'm in the process of fixing that.

I tried to do alsaconf and got 'command not found'
Turns out alsa wasn't even installed! so a quick apt-get install alsa was all I needed.
