mouse wheel not working

Hi,

I need help. Recently while getting my digi camera working with debian I've lost the functionality of my mouse wheel. While not a big problem, it is annoying...

Here's my specs.

debian woody, *nix 2.6 kernel, logitech optical usb mouse. Need more?

Here's what I've done.

I installed hotplug and udev for the ability to mount my camera as a usb mass storage device. ( only way it would work ). Which went off easily. But then my usb mouse stopped working.

I've run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and gone through the steps therein, a few times. Trying different options and my mouse now works, but the scroll wheel still doesn't. I'm starting to suspect a pooched mouse, occasionally when I click it registers multiple clicks and however many instances of [ insert application here ] opens up...haha.

I've googled and searched for 3 weeks and have hit a brick wall. Any ideas??

Quote:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
The last 2 set the options for scroll wheel. The Protocol should be ok to make it work.
