Mouse sensitivity problem in debian

Hi...I've just resently bought a old laptop (Gateway 5100 solo) and installed debian on it...I'm going to appologize ahead of time for my lack of knowlege and lingo in this message cuz I've never worked in or even seen linux b4...but anyway...I've got X windows running and stuff but my mouse sensitivity doesnt seem to be anyware neer up too par...it's a touchpad and it takes like 10 swipes just to get it from one side of the screen to the other...Is there like a control panel similar to windows where I can ajust this? and is the right mouse button not supposed to bring up anything? the left one brings up that menu to run programs but I dont know how to use it 4 anything else...like is there a program manager type thing similar to windows or do I have to do every thing through the Virtual Desktops 1 through 6?

If you are using KDE (perhaps even GNOME has it) there might be some mouse sensitivity options, try them out. If those don't work well enough, you might have to edit you /etc/XF86Config file. You can also try the Synaptics touchpad driver, but i'm not sure if your laptop has a synaptics touchpad.
