Mouse doesn't turn on upon booting

My USB mouse does not work when I boot up Debian. The little red light on the bottom does not even come on. It only works after I unplug and then replug it into my computer.

I don't know if this is related but I also get an error message when booting. The message something like "Make sure there is a disk in the drive. Device not ready."

Does anyone know why my mouse does not work upon booting?

I just switched my mouse to another USB slot and it worked upon booting.
