mounting USB disk on key fails under Gnome jessie 8.2

When I try to mount usb storage device it fails with the error that says :

if I reboot with the stick inserted it does mount it automatically !

Are you sure that the device was plugged and the problem was apparent when you posted that output?

Run this command then plug the stick in and post the resulting output:

I just wanted to add that it appears on the left side of dolphin but it is not mounted !

Does this work:
It sounds like automounting is interfering with your attempts to manually mount the device (although that should mean it will show up in the output of `mount` but it doesn't).

You could drop to a TTY before plugging the stick and mount it from there to prevent your desktop from "helping" you.

The folder /media/username/CANON_DC does not exist !

What is TTY ??

Read my post again.

A teletypewriter, also known as the console.

Press <Ctrl>+<Alt>+F2 (at the same time) to access it.

Use <Ctrl>+<Alt>+F7 to get back to your desktop.

Nor does /media/CANON_DC .

I get the same error that the /dev/sdc1 is already mounted or /media/canon (folder I created) is busy !

BTW , When I plug the stick under TTY , I get the following message :

Can you browse the contents of media/canon?

I'm running out of ideas here -- this is exactly the reason why I avoid fancy desktop environments and automounters.

You should probably put "KDE" in the title (if that is what you are using) to attract the attention of fellow KDE users.

It is empty .

I use Gnome .

Put that in the title then.

I'm stumped here, hopefully somebody else will be able to help you better.
