Mount /home on RAID and configuring TWO Soundcards

I am amazed with this distro, really looks nice.

However, I have to main questions

1) How can I mount my /dev/hda8 and my /dev/hdb (20 GB DD) using RAID?

Which is the easiest way to do this? On Mandrake, SuSE, RedHat all I have to do is mount the /dev/md0 on the installtion phase and that's about it.

2) How can I tell Mepis to use my CMPCI soundcard instead of my via82_cxxx card? I edit the /etc/modules.conf file (I am using 2.4.x kerneL), but the modules.conf file

I changed the following files:
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss........
to
alias sound-service-1-0 snd-mixer-oss

And the following line:
alias via via82xxx
to
alias cmpci cmpci

But still, only my integrated soundcard works.

Apart from that, this is an awesome distro.

Regards

Xavier

Hi,

I'm having the same problem with my integrated sound and my Audigy. If you're not using the integrated sound at all, you can choose to disable the integrated sound from BIOS. Then you don't need to do anymore configuration. It works with mine. =)

Cheers,
Chris

Hmph, I don't have RAID. A quick google search told me that in Debian, RAID is quite a 'manual' job. I don't have your config, but you can try googling 'ide raid debian' or something like that (I assume that yours is IDE). This pages may help a bit (take them with a pinch of salt though, don't just follow blindly):

http://xtronics.com/reference/SATA-R...n-for-2.6.html
http://www.james.rcpt.to/programs/debian/raid1/

Sorry I can't help much. =S
