Mount Debian Partition from FreeBSD

I'm trying to mount a Debian partition from FreeBSD.

About my system:
I have is a system with two SATA hard drives. The first drive has two partitions. The first partition has Windows installed on it, and the second is a NTFS data partition. The second drive also has two partitions. The first partition has Debian installed on it and the second has FreeBSD installed on it. There is also a large section on the second disk that is unpartitioned.

This is what my /dev folder looks like:
Code:
C330# ls /dev
acd0 ata fwmem0.0 ppi0 ttyv4
acd0t01 atkbd0 geom.ctl ptyp0 ttyv5
acpi bpf0 io ptyp1 ttyv6
ad4 console kbd0 random ttyv7
ad4s1 consolectl klog stderr ttyv8
ad4s2 ctty kmem stdin ttyv9
ad4s2s1 cuaa0 log stdout ttyva
ad4s5 cuaa1 lpt0 sysmouse ttyvb
ad6 cuaia0 lpt0.ctl ttyd0 ttyvc
ad6s1 cuaia1 mdctl ttyd1 ttyvd
ad6s2 cuala0 mem ttyid0 ttyve
ad6s2s1 cuala1 net ttyid1 ttyvf
ad6s3 devctl net1 ttyld0 ums0
ad6s3a devstat net2 ttyld1 urandom
ad6s3b fd net3 ttyp0 usb
ad6s3c fd0 net4 ttyp1 usb0
ad6s3d fido network ttyv0 usb1
ad6s3e fw0 nfs4 ttyv1 usb2
ad6s3f fw0.0 null ttyv2 xpt0
ad6s5 fwmem0 pci ttyv3 zero
I've tried unsuccessfully to mount my Debian partition with the following command
Code:
C330# mount -r -t ext3 /dev/ad6s2s1 debian
mount: exec mount_ext3 not found in /sbin:/usr/sbin: No such file or directory
For some reason this did not work. Can any one tell me what I need to do so that I can read, and perhaps write on my Debian partition?

Re: Mount Debian Partition from FreeBSD

What filesystem are you using by default in FBSD(I'm too lazy to look in the book about *nices I have on the shelf)? Do you have enabled/compiled/added support for ext3 filesystem?

Re: Re: Mount Debian Partition from FreeBSD

I am using FreeBSD 5.4 with the default file system. I don't know what the default file system is.

I do not have ext3 support enabled/compiled/added unless it is that way by default. I'm not even sure if Debian 3.1 uses ext3.

You need to install an additional package on FreeBSD for dealing with ext2fs and ext3fs. The package is named e2fsprogs (see http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cg...ils/e2fsprogs/) . This package will contain mount_ext3 feature that mount will evoke when called with -t ext3 parameter .
