modules: change load order? (agpgart & radeon)

hi there,

i've just finally got direct rendering with my ATI radeon graphics card working.. but not quite.
it seems that the order in which the modules load is not correct. for my 3d acceleration i need agpgart and radeon loaded and lsmod tells me that they are. but i always need to unload both and reload them, agpgart first. then it works after restarting xserver.
(i hsve checked this with glxinfo before and after).
how can i change the automatic loading order? the /etc/modules.conf says i shouldnt change it manually (and i wouldnt know how anyway).

any advise is apreciated
