mkbootfloppy

I read that I should be able to use this command (mkbootfloppy) to create a boot disk to allow be to boot up a machine in order to access its cdrom drive.
The machine is an old one and can't boot from the cdrom itself - so it needs a boot disk to do this and I just heard that this 'mkbootfloppy' command should be able to do the job for me.

However, at a terminal prompt (root) I ran that command and all I got was something like a 'huh?

Anyone comment please..

Almost all distributions allow you to make a boot floppy from the distributions CD. However the command(s) used to do so vary from one distribution to another. What distribution are you using?

Try running mkboot instead. Read the man page first.

Thanks for the response. All input is appreciated.

Well I am using the latest distribution of Debian. And it was while I was using knoppix that it said I could use 'mkbootfloppy' to make a bootable floppy that I found it wouldn't work in Debian or knoppix. And I wasn't able to find a MAN page on it either.

Mind you - I was using the whole command just as I wrote it. Maybe if I shortened it up, it might work (mkboot) instead?

I will give that a try..
