Missing agp-gart modules (moving from PCI to AGP video card)

Hi,

Hopefully somebody out there knows how to get around this problem (gracefully)....

I have a really nice Debian (unstable) computer that used to be just a server but recently got upgraded to "room-mate's computer." In the process I decided to swap out the crappy PCI video card that was in the box for a nicer AGP model. However, upon boot up XFree notifies me that I don't have AGP support loaded into the kernel!! (I installed the computer WITH the PCI card in, I believe, so I never got around to installing the modules).

So the question is, is it possible to gracefully get these modules installed WITHOUT reinstalling the system? I have so many tweaks on there it would take months to duplicate the setup !!!

If anyone in linuxland has any tips they would be much appreciated!!

Thanks

Update,

Doing some reading online led me to the idea that maybe I should build a new kernel (mine's kinda old anyway) and include those modules in the process.

I don't know if this is a 'smart' idea but I'll post back in the morning with an when it's done compiling.

'night
