Minor Debian Problems
I tried to install the NVIDIA drivers for my FX 5900 U and I couldn't switch down any runlevels, only 1 existed, and the Nv drivers warned me agented using run lvl 1 to install them. Also, I tried anyway and it told me it could not find something like ld or some command...
Also, GRUB would not install for some reason, so I used LILO, which does not for some reason does not recognize my NTFS partition. How do I add it to the LILO boot list? I'm using sarge BTW... EDIT: also, I don't seem to have 'list'! Am I missing some packages here?? EDIT: Windows is installed on a SCSI drive with the MBR being on ide master(NTFS partition) and linux on ide slave. |
The command that takes you to single user mode in a running system is "telinit S". Or you can use the command "linux single" in lilo prompt.
When I installed Debian with the Sarge beta4 installer, the first attempt to install Grub gave an error message but when I repeated the attempt, Grub installed without problems. I don't use lilo so I cannot help you there. |
