I have installed skype 1.2.0.18 under debian sarge stable with gnome.
it works, but f I'm doing a test on echo123, my voice will be recorded very quietly.
I've tried already to change microphone settings under Applications -> Multimedia -> Volume Control
but it doesn't help.
do I missing something or where can I find more microphone settings or tools ?
Using alsa for the sound if so then try alsamixer in a terminal/console window as your normal user, you will most likely be looking for the Mic Boost or capture volume options if raising the volume on the Mic itself does not work.

when I try alsamixer in the Konosle,
I see that "mic boost" is "off" now.
I cannot change it.
how can i change it to "on" ?
I'm out of ideas on this one then other than confirming with whatever sound recorder gnome uses that it is still low volume if so then better quality mic maybe if high volume then skype is the problem..
