Messed up my fs, repairing it?
ok, here's the scenario. I thought I could clean my localhost inbox by deleting the /home/jake/mbox file. Then I started getting errors about something being readonly. So I rebooted and fsck caught something in my file system, so I had to log in as root (or hit ctrl-d) and fix it. So i did that and ran e2fsck -p /dev/hda3. That quit saying I had to do it manually. So I did e2fsck /dev/hda3 and held 'y' down for a long time, got tired of that and hit ctrl-c. I then ran e2fsck -yv /dev/hda3, and that seemed to fix it. I then rebooted, and /var was completely missing, my hostname was not being recognized, and /proc was empty. I booted into knoppix, and ran e2fsck -p again, and it said that everything was clean. Thoughts on fixing my filesystem? I really don't want to reinstall, but I will. Oh yeah, and when I rebooted into debian, nothing mounted except / and that mounted as read only. Thoughts?
