I'm upgrading my kernel from 2.6.18 to 2.6.22. before I use menuconfig to configure the 2.6.22 ernel, I copy a version of .config from my woring 2.6.18 kernel:
cp /boot/config-`uname -r` .config
When I select "load an alternate configuration file", I get (the real list is about 5 x this size) the following alert. I'm not sure what's going on here, I haven't seen this before.
Thanks,
lb

Ok, the make oldconfig command worked fine. I was asked a HUGE amount of questions though. To be honest, many of the options were over my head. I used common sense but I'm wondering if I had gone ahead and just entered throughmake menuconfig if I could have safely edited from there? I guess what I'm asking is this: is there a friendlier and less time-consuming way to do this? I miss the "help" option in menuconfig that explained about the module I was looking at.
