MegaRAID scsi Driver (sym53c1030) on ACER G710

when installing debian 3.1, after detecting the hardware it will found the following driver modules to load :-
[*] megaraid (Symbios logic inc. /NCR MegaRAID)
[*] mptscsih (Symbios logic inc /NCR 53c1030 PCI-x Fution-MPT Dual Ultra 320 SCSI)

but after continuing with or with out these driver modules it will announce that no partition media (Hard Drive) were found.

Is there any Special parameter on loading the modules?

The Hardware :-
Dual Xeon 3.0 Ghz on intel 750x main board containing broadcom dual gigabit ethernet, Raid On Board (ROMB) Symbios 53c1020/1030
2GB ECC RAM, 2x73 GB Seagate Chetah on RAID-1.
With the above hardware i could install Win2003, WinXP, SuSE ES 9 with the help of relevent driver supplied by ACER. But could not install debian or fedora FC4 , because no specific driver supplied by ACER.

Hi and welcome to LQ

Are you doing a clean install?

In that case i suggest you boot up your install cd using this command:
Code:
linux26
Now the installation will use the 2.6.x kernel instead of the default 2.4.x.

2.6.x kernel supports more hardware, probably also your scsi card
