Well it's time for a new project since I have nothing better to do (those few weeks a year I can actually say this). I'd like to build a mediacenter with Debian. I got a tv-card from a friend but I only have two quite old pc's laying around. What's the minimum processor need to get a working setup?
Would be a waste to start if it turns out that the hardware is to old. Any tips, ideas?

Review Debian Sarge installer(not net-installer notes) manual and HCL for minimal requirements and what tv cards are supported. Check motherboards's spec and available slots. Have fun

Simply viewing with the tv card takes very little horsepower. If it has a built in mpeg encoder, "recording" takes very little horsepower. The only thing that will require a beefy system is encoding the audio/video in another format.
