M$ Windows XP bootable CD and GRUB. I cannot start debian.
I have instaled windows on a partion(not the partition with debian). But it seems that windows deleted GRUB, How can I put it back? (I only have the first debian CD)
Put in the first debian CD. Run in rescue mode, login as root and well from there on you have to install grub or run grub whatever gets it back on your HD. Don't know how exactly I use lilo.
well.. to reinstall grub, you have to run grub from wherever it is installed, which will take you to the grub command line. type root (hd[disk],[partition]). replace disk and partition with the location of the partition with the grub boot files on it, for me it is (hd0,0). then, setup (hd[disk]) to install to the master boot record of whatever disk, you can also specify a partition to install it to using the same syntax as used earlier, but it doesn't sound like you'll need to do that.
how you get to grub, however, is your own business.
