Lost my groups I'm in
 

I am using debian lenny
Accidentally I erased my groups. I want to add them back.
Can Anyone say that which groups am I supposed to be in?
Can any lenny user write "groups" on commandline and say the output?

You should be in plugdev,cdrom,video,audio,floppy

I added ssh, vboxusers. Any other application specific groups?

My KnetworkManager still does not see ethernet plugged in.

You can use command 'groups' to see.

KnetworkManager problem is solved with netdev group.

I am in: dialout cdrom floppy audio video plugdev netdev powerdev fuse nvram vboxusers
The penultimate for my Thinkpad buttons on-screen display, and the last for VirtualBox use, so ymmv.
