locate not working well

Hi all. I dont know if this is a bug or if im not doing it properly. I just upgraded from Sarge to Etch and a few things dont seem right. For example when i try to use locate command, i get a weird msg.

Code:
locate: /var/cache/locate/locatedb: No such file or directory
What is this?? Locate is in fact on the system, i dont understand what im doing wrong, is there a missing flag to find a file im looking for? Thanx in advance!

Read the 'locate' manual page to find out what its control files are etc. It sounds like the 'upgrade' had somehow screwed up some settings. You may also see if a reconfigure will work:

dpkg-reconfigure locate

usually updatedb runs daily, check for /etc/cron.daily/find
