live-helper

after changing iso`s created by live-helper i can`t boot them no more:
error message says:
Quote:
error; if you wanna file a bug-report against initramfs-live, please add branch,etc..
can not mount /dev/loop0 /live/image/live/filesystem.squashfs) on filesystem.squashfs
as i did it several times with success, i`m sure it worked before. I don`t know what has changed or could have changed in the meantime (kernel has changed from 2.6.26-1-686 to 2.6.26-2-686?).

thanks for a hand

You are building an image based on squeeze?

The issue is an incompatibility between mksquashfs and the kernel. The problem has been discussed on the Debian Live mailing list here.

Alternatively, you can also move on to sid. So much more fun and excitement.

ok, thanks (i got a bit problems with reading the mailing-lists),
so there is a real problem and not just an error of mine.

i tried building form sid and lenny, with kernels 2-6-26-1-686; 2-6-26-2-686 and 2-6-29-686. For the 29-kernel i couldn`t find no squashfs-modules.

when building squeeze (lh_config -d squeeze ...) no binary.iso is getting created. when building lenny all is fine, as long i don`t unpack and chroot into the binary.iso.

i`ll try to upgrade the binary.iso to sid first.
thanks and greetings

My only recent experience is with sid, which works fine for me (which, sid being sid, may change from day to day). You don't need squashfs-modules for that one, as squashfs has been moved into the mainstream kernel.

ok, thanks.
when using the 29-kernel the squashfs is an unknown fs for me. that is: something
must be screwed here.

though its real annoying, as it takes so long to build an image, its not all bad: i did have a deeper look into the pages and the docu.

greetings and thanks

as i`m completely stuck (though reading the docu, manpages and the wiki):
how would i boot with a debug kernel parameter? (i`ve never done such a thing before, feel free to speak to me as a dump one, more friendly: step by step)
thanks

post-edit customizing the following binary.iso did work:
Quote:
lh_config \
--union-filesystem aufs \
--linux-packages 'linux-image-2.6 aufs-modules-2.6 squashfs-modules-2.6'
lh_build
